Friday Teen Night is great!

Jams has been so great about opening their doors every Friday night between 7-9PM.  They have already given some teens, some kids and some big kids (us) a chance to rock out, make some noise, share and give.  We fired up the bass guitar amp this last Friday, set up the drums and our regular electric guitar and mics.  We had guests come and sing, we did a Kiss cover and a great jam.

Because of the Thanksgiving holiday we will be taking this Friday night off but are looking forward to the following Friday!!  Rock on!  Jams rules!  Thank you Jams!

Makin’ it happen!

The JAMS folks have beautified and electrified the school!  It looks great with lots of instruments to choose from including a full trap set of drums, numerous acoustic and electric guitars, mics, amps, recording gear and more!  Last night we heard some sounds from singer-songwriter, and now honorary Friday Teen Night host, Dave Alyassin.  Dave was accompanied on drums by Jenny.  She was dropping some beats by the Cars and then got into grooving with some of the originals tunes!  Full Moon Music!

Please make a note that Friday Teen Night is every Friday night between 7-9 PM at 631 & 1/2 N. Milpas in downtown Santa Barbara!  Let’s get some kids in there playing music!!  Exposure to playing music has been shown to increase self-esteem and help students on academic and social levels.

See you there!!

“I was in a gang and used to sell drugs… now music is my soul.  It is a way to express myself.  It really opened my eyes, like an epiphany, it made me see the World in a whole different way… JAMS is awesome!  I never thought I would get this far, and these people helped me” – Alejandro, 15 years old

Avocado Festival

We are thrilled that all of our great Jams bands played this year at the avocado festival including Cornerstone and Sometime After Sundown and One Two Tree.  We are honored to have sponsored the kids from all over Santa Barbara who played this year including special needs kids.

Please feel free to look at our new updated website and donate to our school through the Sergio Romero Scholarship Fund.

JAMS is a non-proift music school for kids from all backgrounds.

The Jasmine Alternative Music School is a non-profit youth music school that is dedicated to providing both music instruction and musical instruments to those who have a desire to learn to make music, but not the resources.  The school was launched in the memory of a young musician named Jasmine whose life was cut short, but whose memory lives on at JAMS.Image
